June Teen Book Club

May 8, 2010

In a future world, all babies are born.  However, between the ages of 13 and 18 parents can make the decision to have you “unwound”.  Your body will then be harvested to be used in other people’s bodies.  In the book, three teens are coming of age and are trying to uphold their values and maybe save their own lives.

Come join us for a discussion of this book on Saturday June 5th from 1-2pm.  Pick up a Book Club copy of the book in the Teen Tower before the event.  New members are always welcome!

Operation Teen Book Drop

April 16, 2010

The Teen Book Club, Readergirlz, and YALSA have conspired to bring Operation Teen Book Drop to Castle Rock.  The Teen Book Club held a book drive at the library and 100 books were donated.  We then put those books all over town in places where teens go.  If you find a book you get to keep it!  Let us know if you find a book.  Some places you might find a book are:

The D.Q. by the library.

The van you take on a field trip.

Bogey’s West record store.  Maybe even…

The locker room at the Rec Center.

Look all over town because you never know where we’ve been.  Enjoy the books Castle Rock.

Unwind is the story of a distant future where all babies must be born, but they can at the parents choosing be unwound.  All of their body parts can be medically harvested.  This is the story of three teens who are on a path with the unwinding process.

Teen Reads For Grown Ups

February 20, 2010

Do you hate reading boring books that Oprah recommends?  Do you want to read what the COOL kids are reading?  Why not read the best Young Adult fiction that there is?  All of our book club books have been chosen by our Teen Book Club.

If you are 18 or older, stop by the Aloha Teen Tower to pick up your members only copy of Maximum Ride by James Patterson.  We will be discussing this book on 3/10/10 6:30-7:30 at Pegasus in downtown Castle Rock

Max and her “family” are a bunch of kids who have been raised by a team of evil scientists in a lab.  They have bird wings grafted to their bodies and they can fly.  Everything is going pretty crappy (you try living in a dog crate your whole life) until the kids escape.  Life on the outside is not easy if your a birdkid.  You have to keep your wings covered, look for food, and avoid the giant wolf like minions that the evil scientists send to bring you back to the lab.  This is a fun and fast story that will have you putting the rest of the series on hold.  If you are a fan of Patterson’s adult fiction you are sure to love his Young Adult fiction.
